Course Guidelines for Students

To ensure a smooth learning experience in our international community, we have prepared these guidelines for you. Here you will find key information on language support, forum participation, and certification options to help you get off to a successful start.

Language & Translation Support

Because TerraCert is a collaborative project between partners from different countries, you may notice variations in the main language used across courses. Most content is available in English, but support is offered for other languages:

  • Platform Translation: You can change the language of the Moodle interface by selecting your preferred language from the menu located at the bottom left corner of the platform.
  • Video Subtitles: All videos are hosted on YouTube and offer AI-generated subtitles. To view subtitles in your
    preferred language:
    1. Click the YouTube icon to open the video in YouTube.
    2. Click the settings gear, turn on Subtitles/CC, and select your language under ‘Auto-translate.’

If you require additional language support, please contact your course coordinator or support team.

Forum & Community Participation

Our learning community is made up of students from many different countries. To ensure everyone can
participate and benefit, we encourage you to use English in forums and group discussions. This helps
maximize mutual understanding and support among students.

Certification & Micro-Credentials

You have two options when taking a TerraCert course:

  • With Certification (Micro-Credential):
If you’d like to receive an official micro-credential (open badge) after completing the course, a small fee will be required. This fee covers the work of a qualified teacher who will evaluate your submissions and confirm that you have acquired practical knowledge.
Evaluations will be conducted in English, but don’t worry – we focus on what you know and can apply, not on
    perfect grammar or fluency.
You will receive feedback and official recognition for your work.
  • Self-Assessment (No Certification):
You are free to go through the course activities and projects for your own learning without requesting evaluation or a credential. This option is completely free and allows you to strengthen your skills at your ownpace, but your work will not be reviewed by a teacher or result in certification.

If you have any questions, reach out to the course team. We’re excited to have you on this learning journey!
